This is the one that matters most. A chef can browse, create an account, and sign in without your involvement, but until you tag them they see exactly what a stranger sees. One tag turns them into a buyer.

  1. They ask to join. The chef fills in the form on your Become a Partner page and confirms they'll pay by credit card. The answer lands in Shopify Forms, not in your customer list. Storefront → Become a Partner
  2. They can already sign in, and still see nothing. Shopify accounts work by email alone, no password. So they may well be signed in and looking at a locked catalog. That is expected, not a bug. Storefront → Wholesale Login
  3. You tag them. Find the person in Customers and add the tag approved. Spelling matters, because this exact word is what every lock on the store is watching for. Admin → Customers → (the person) → Tags
  4. The store reacts on its own. Locksmith unlocks the catalog, the checkout stops blocking them, and the Send approval email to verified customers workflow sends the welcome. You don't send anything by hand. Runs automatically
Turning someone downTag them denied instead. That sends the Send denial email to customers workflow, which lets the applicant know without you writing the message.

Your cheese pages aren't built from one long description. The story, the ingredients, the care instructions and the origin are separate pieces of content that you write once and attach. Get these right and the page fills itself in.

  1. Create the product with its title, photography and price. Admin → Products → Add product
  2. Set the vendor, either Haute Fromagerie or Rogue Creamery. This is what keeps the two houses apart across the store.
  3. Add one option called Format. Never anything else. Values describe the pack: 1 × 4.5 lb Wheel, 6 × 7 oz Mini, 2 × 5 lb Wheel. Most cheeses need a single format; a few, like Saint André, carry two at different prices.
  4. Attach the content pieces. Ingredients, tasting notes, care instructions and recommended pairings each live in their own reusable entry. Write it once, attach it here. Product page → Metafields
  5. Pick the origin, allergens and dietary preferences from Shopify's own lists. These are what power the filters shoppers use on the Cheeses page.
  6. Ignore the fields the apps fill in. Shop channel eligibility and Locksmith access status appear on their own. Leave them alone.
Change the order minimum or free shipping
Checkout & Shipping · 2 procedures

These two numbers live in different places. The order minimum is a checkout rule; free shipping is a shipping rate. Changing one never changes the other.

The $200 order minimum

  1. Open the order limits rule. It applies to everyone, approved buyers included. A cart below the amount gets an on-screen warning and can't proceed. Admin → Apps → Checkout Blocks → Order limits
  2. Change the amount and save. It takes effect on the next cart. Remember to update the wording on the storefront too, or shoppers will hit a number nobody told them about.

The free shipping threshold

  1. Open your shipping settings. Admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery
  2. Edit the delivery profile and open the zone you want to change, domestic or international.
  3. Edit the shipping rate inside that zone to switch free shipping on, or to adjust the minimum order amount that earns it.
Adjust your checkout branding
Checkout · 3 steps

Your checkout carries your branding already: the side-by-side Haute Fromagerie and Rogue Creamery logo, a white header with black accents, a light grey body and a dark order summary. Here is where to change any of it.

  1. Open your checkout settings. Admin → Settings → Checkout
  2. Edit the branding. You control the logo and its width (currently capped at 300px), the header, the main area and the order summary, each with its own background and accent color.
  3. Preview before you save. Checkout changes reach shoppers as soon as they're published, so walk through a test order first.

There is one rule here and it protects you from every bad afternoon: never edit the live theme directly. Every visitor sees your changes the instant you save.

  1. Duplicate the live theme. You'll get a copy sitting in your theme library, published to nobody. Admin → Online Store → Themes → ⋯ → Duplicate
  2. Edit the copy as much as you like, and use Preview to check it. The live site is untouched the whole time.
  3. Publish the copy when you're happy. The old version stays in the library as your way back.
Where things standLive theme: Updated copy of Greenhouse. An unpublished copy is already sitting in the library as your backup.
Give someone access to the admin
Users · 3 steps

Nobody should be sharing the owner login. On Shopify Plus you get unlimited staff accounts, each with their own sign-in and only the access they need.

  1. Decide what they should reach. Shopify's ready-made roles cover most cases: Merchandiser for products and content, Customer Support for orders and customers, Marketing for campaigns and reports, Administrator for nearly everything.
  2. Invite them. Staff get an invitation by email. Outside agencies and developers use the 4-digit collaborator code instead. They request access, you approve it, and they never count against your user list. Admin → Settings → Users
  3. Build a custom role if none of the presets fit. You can pick permissions one by one. Settings → Users → Roles → Add role
Only the owner can do thisChanging the bank details that receive your money. No role, however senior, can be granted that.
Turn on a new automation
Flow · 3 steps
OpenClose

Two workflows run today, both around approving buyers. Beyond them, 28 more events are already cleared and waiting. You can start a workflow from any of them without installing or paying for anything.

  1. Switch on the event you care about. Price changed, tag added, customer note edited, and 25 others. Admin → Apps → Workflow Trigger Extensions
  2. Build the workflow: the event, a condition, and what should happen. No code involved. Admin → Apps → Flow → Create workflow
  3. Send an email from inside it if you need one, using WorkflowMail, the same way the approval email works.
Room to growA further 51 events, covering orders, B2B companies, discounts and inventory, need one permission granted before they appear. That's where order-driven automation would come from later.

Products02

17 cheeses from two houses: Haute Fromagerie and Rogue Creamery. Every product uses one option, Format, describing the pack size. Most have a single format; a few carry two at different prices.

CheeseFormatPrice
Saint André1 × 4.5 lb Wheel · 6 × 7 oz Mini$74 · $45
Esquirrou2 × 5 lb Wheel$205
Etorki Reserve2 × 10 lb Wheels$360
Papillon Tomme de Brebis1 × 10 lb Wheel$176
Saint Albray2 × 4.4 lb Wheel$144

Each cheese carries the same set of content, so the page fills in consistently:

  • Ingredients and allergens
  • Country of origin, which drives the origin filter
  • Storage and care instructions
  • Tasting notes: flavor, texture, aroma
  • Dietary preferences
  • Recommended pairings
Users & permissions03

You're on Shopify Plus, so people get their own sign-in with only the access they need. Nobody shares the owner login.

  • Owner: one person, full access, transferable from their own profile.
Checkout04

Your live checkout profile is Haute Fromagerie configuration, carrying the side-by-side Haute Fromagerie and Rogue Creamery logo, a white header with black accents, a light grey body and a dark order summary.

Checkout Blocks can do considerably more than the one rule you're using. All of this is installed and available:

  • Payment methods: hide, rename or reorder them; hide the express buttons; show different options to wholesale versus regular customers, or based on what's in the cart.
  • Delivery options: the same controls, and you can also vary them by date.
  • Cart rules: minimum and maximum order values, address format checks, and blocking anyone without the right tag.
  • Automatic discounts: on the order total or on shipping.
HousekeepingAn old rule, Require customer tag (v1), is deprecated. It should be migrated to v2, which is already in place and doing the work.
Automations05

Two workflows are live, and both are part of deciding on a buyer.

WorkflowStatusWhat it does
Send approval email to verified customersActiveWelcomes a buyer once you tag them approved
Send denial email to customersActiveLets an applicant know once you tag them denied

Four events can currently start a workflow: a product, a collection, a customer, or a product detail being updated. Another 28 are cleared and switched off, and 51 more, covering orders, B2B companies, discounts and inventory, open up once you grant one permission.

Ten color schemes cover the header, footer, page backgrounds and section variations in a cream, brown and teal palette. Beyond the standard pages, the theme has custom templates for About, Contact, FAQ, two- and three-column product layouts, recipe-style articles, and the wholesale sign-in and approval pages. Locksmith is wired into the layout itself, so restricted pages stay hidden rather than showing an error. Seven additional languages are prepared, though none are switched on.

Templates without pagesTemplates exist for a standalone FAQ, a registration page and a pending-approval page, but no pages are published using them. The FAQ currently lives inside About Us. Nothing is broken, it's just unused capacity if you want those pages later.
